The Bears have done something very surprising, they have signed all their draft picks prior to this weekends rookie mini camp. Third round pick Will Sutton signed a four year deal this morning.
The two time Pac 12 defensive player of the year had 17 sacks as a defensive tackle the last two seasons for Arizona State and feels he can make an impact along the D-line of the Bears.
“My strength is that pass rush, getting that one-on-one pass rush and penetrating on the run.”
While he may not have the size of guys from the past like Ted Washington or Keith Traylor, Sutton has the speed and ability to make plays in the backfield from the d-tackle position. And while he may see some double teams on the interior the other new guys along the line like Jared Allen, Lamarr Houston, Willie Young, and fellow rookie Ego Ferguson should give Sutton many opportunities to show his talents and see fewer double teams.
Rookie mini camp starts tomorrow at Halas Hall.
